RF Microneedling

Radiofrequency Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure which rejuvenates facial skin using small needles and radiofrequency waves. It is a type of controlled skin injury that encourages the formation of new, healthy skin, which can help with common skin problems like acne scars, wrinkles from aging and hyperpigmentation.
Radiofrequency microneedling is less intrusive than other procedures like chemical peels and dermabrasion and has many benefits to treat many problamatic skin conditions.

How does it Work?

Microneedling is a technique that involves creating microwounds, or channels, in the skin with a small needle. Capillaries, elastin, and collagen are all produced as a result of this. During the regeneration process the facial skin starts to look smoother and tighter thus wrinkles and age spots start to decrease and the skin tone becomes more even. Microneedling is also effective in decreasing the size of large pores. Microneedling is also known as collagen induction therapy or skin needling.

When radiofrequency waves are used with Microneedling it is called Radiofrequency Microneedling, using radiofrequency waves the needle causes extra damage to the skin by releasing these waves into the channels as a result this improves the outcome of traditional  microneedling and the regenerated skin grows comes back thicker and smoother.

What conditions can be treated?

Radiofrequency Microneedling is used to target some of the following skin conditions:
  • Fine lines
  • Stretch marks
  • Acne , injury and surgerical scars

What to expect?

If you feel that this treatment is right for you then here at Selina’s we will ensure that in your initial consultation we put together a treatment plan that best suits your needs.  We will discuss your condition and medical history and talk to you about your expectations, discuss the procedure fully, advise you on how you need to prepare for the treatment and also discuss any concerns you may have about the procedure.

During the procedure:

The health practitioner will prepare and clean your skin to prevent infection and make it ready for the procedure. Depending on individual cases the correct anesthetic will be applied to numb the area and stop you feeling any pain. On most occasions a numbing cream is applied before the procedure.

The microneedling device creates microscopic skin wounds at the same time the tip of the needle sends radiofrequency waves in the wounds it has created. The procedure lasts for around 10-20mins but this depends on the size and area being treated.

After the procedure

To aid cell regeneration, a growth solution is used and a soothing remedy is applied to help with any discomfort. On completion you can return home and resume your daily activities as normal. We will also advice you of how to care for your skin post treatment i.e. applying ice packs to reduce swelling, using skin protector or cleanser etc.

How many treatments are needed?

You may begin to see effects of the treatment following your first visit, but you will not see the full results until all treatments in your plan are completed as depending on size and area being treated you may require more than one treatment and will only see the full results after your final treatment.
