Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy is a procedure that involves injecting vitamins, enzymes, hormones, and plant extracts into the skin to tighten, renew and eliminate excess fat.
A French doctor originally developed Mesotherapy in 1952 to help people who were suffering from pain. It has grown in popularity in America and throughout the world in the years since and is now used to treat many other conditions such as fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin tone, weight loss and many more.
Mesotherapy is a gentle skin needling treatment that is suitable for most skin types and ideal for clients who want minimal trauma and down time.
How it works?
The procedure involves injecting a number of injections into the skin’s middle layer (mesoderm) with extremely fine needles in order to treat the underlying causes of skin deterioration, such as inadequate circulation and inflammation. Using hyaluronic skin infusions and an 18 point plastic needle cartridge, the Mesotherapy cell boost substances penetrate right into the intersection between the epidermis and dermis providing maximum effect directly to the problem areas.
This approach boosts collagen and elastin production, making skin firmer and more robust. Mesotherapy is acknowledged and recognised as one of the most successful treatments for skin problems since you can see a difference in skin colour and tone with just one treatment, and fine wrinkles are reduced because mesotherapy stimulates natural regeneration. Mesotherapy can aid in the rapid and lasting saturation of the skin with moisture, especially when it is dehydrated.
What conditions can be treated?
Mesotherapy is used to treat the following:
- fade wrinkles and lines
- tighten loose skin
- reduce cellulite
- recontour the body
- reduce fat from the stomach, thighs, legs, arms, face etc
- lighten skin pigmentation
- treat alopecia (hair loss).

If you go to a trained practitioner Mesotherapy has very minimal risks and very few side effects. At Selina’s our staff is fully trained to provide high levels of accuracy and care to ensure minimal or no discomfort is experienced during or after your treatments.
Although we treatment is very safe there are some side effects that can occur. These are:
- sensitivity
- swelling
- itching

- bruising
- rash
- infection
- scars
What to expect?
At each session you may or may not have numbing cream applied this is dependant upon on each clients skin type. A specific small needle will be used to provide a series of injections. A mechanical gun is added to the needle to provide multiple injections in a row. Depending on the condition being treated, the injections can be delivered at various depths ranging from 1 to 4 millimetres into your skin. The needle is inserted at an angle into your skin or with a quick flick of the wrist. A tiny drop of the solution is released into your skin with each injection.
There is usually little or no downtime at all with mesotherapy because it is noninvasive. Many people are able to resume their normal activities almost immediately. Others may require a day off due to some swelling and soreness around the injection sites which resolves very quickly.
How many treatments are needed?
To achieve the desired result, you will probably require multiple Mesotherapy sessions. Between 3 and 15 visits can be expected. The needles will be given every 7 to 10 days at beginning and if the treatments show improvements to your skin then they will be spaced out accordingly i.e. to every two weeks or once a month dependant on treatment area.
